Information for New FTP Users

What Is FTP Explorer?

FTP Explorer is a program that allows you to connect to FTP servers for the purpose of transferring files.

Any type of file can be transferred easily and quickly transferred to or from your computer.

FTP Explorer is often used for maintaining web sites but is also useful for other file transfer tasks, especially for larger files which do not transfer well via other methods such as email.

FTP Explorer is designed to be easy to use and familiar.  FTP Explorer looks and acts very much like the Windows Explorer, so you'll feel right at home even during your first session.

FTP Explorer has been available since 1996!  Download a free trial here!

Why do I need FTP Explorer?

You can use FTP Explorer to transfer files between your computer and an FTP server.

Nearly all web hosting providers offer FTP capability, so you can use FTP Explorer to easily transfer your web site files from your computer up to the web site.  It is generally easier, faster, and more efficient to transfer your files using an FTP client than other methods.  Get your free trial here.

Maintaining Your Web Site

Maintaining your web site is easy with FTP Explorer.  Your site appears as a set of folders and files just like they appear in the Windows explorer.

It takes just a few minutes to configure FTP Explorer with the appropriate settings for your site.  FTP Explorer's Connection Wizard guides you through the process with step-by-step instructions.

FTP Explorer saves you time, money, and eliminates frustration by taking the complication out of what is normally a complicated task!

Public File Repositories

There are many public FTP servers available from which you can download files from.  FTP Explorer provides a default list of servers that you can connect to immediately after you install it.

Repositories such as the Papa WinSock-L archive at the Indiana State University and the SimTel archive offer thousands of programs free for public downloading.
